The Mimesis dress is developed by Iris van Herpen in collaboration with Solaris Community’s upcycling supply chain, through the transformation of recycled evian bottles into fabric made from rPET (72%) and silk (28%). The intricate and multi-dimensional garment is a creative example of the alternative ways that we can create value in recycled plastic. We aim to demonstrate to the public the value of recycled plastic in circular manufacturing, and the importance of upcycling by highlighting the different ways in which we can reuse, recycle and keep plastic waste out of nature.
